2021 AWARDS
In a change to previous years we have taken the Annual Awards online due to restrictions in place because of the coronavirus pandemic.
This annual event acknowledges the hard work and dedication of construction organisations, individuals and project teams involved in delivering and contributing to the built environment in the region.
Hosted by Warren Salmons, Chair of Norfolk Constructing Excellence, and streamed on YouTube, the awards included 13 categories and were judged by a panel of representatives across various disciplines in the construction industry. This year’s awards were particularly important due to the challenges of the last 12 months with Coronavirus, with 2020’s ceremony being cancelled due to the pandemic. Award highlights included:
Jack Trutch from FW Properties being named as winner of the Future Leader Award. This award supports young people getting into the industry and recognises young talented professionals.
John Smith from Smith of Honingham was recognised in the Special Achievement category. His culture of fairness, honesty and humbleness and leadership style was duly noted, as well as the contribution he has made to the local community over the years.
Morgan Sindall Construction were voted 1st place overall and named winners of the People Development category. Their ongoing commitment to their staff health and wellbeing, as well as professional development and their solid dedication to support young people getting into the industry though their virtual work experience initiative led to them scooping this prestigious award.
Warren Salmons said: “Construction, like many other industries, had to adapt fast in order to continue working. Companies and employees showed great resilience during the turbulence of Covid. These awards acknowledge the hard work and dedication across the construction industry, and this was particularly apparent over the last year. Within Norfolk, an exceptional level of high-quality projects has been delivered. I would like to congratulate all of the winners again for doing such a tremendous job for our region.”
Constructing Excellence Norfolk, the platform that helps stimulate, debate and drive much needed change in the Construction sector, welcomes everyone from apprentice level to CEO. With a shared vision for change through innovation and collaboration, these awards are well regarded within the industry. Local businesses also supported the event with sponsorships and the new online format was well received with hundreds viewing on YouTube.
